Day one in the books

 Day one in the books!!!!

Not a lot of pics today or any great sight seeing.  The purpose of today was to get some miles under our belt so we can enjoy something other than agriculture, corn, and cows.

During our journey we felt multiple seasons today. 3 out of 4 of us felt Spring and Summer. 1 of us however felt 3 seasons. According to that individual it was winter also!

In our 850 miles we did today Mother Nature was very feisty. She taunted and tortured us throughout the day.  She kept spitting rain at us. never enough for us to put our actual rain gear on but enough for us to question whether or not we should go ahead and put it on.  We finally made it though all of the black clouds and it was absolutely beautiful, the sun was shining and we felt we were going to be just fine. Then out of the literal clear blue skies the clouds opened up and poured rain down on us.  It was probably 3 miles before we could get to an underpass to take cover and put our rain suits on. There was a very kind gentleman who pulled up behind us in his truck, kind of protecting us while we were changing into our suits.  By the time we got change the blue skies were back and it had already quit raining.  We drove to the next exit and disrobed from all the rain gear because it was soooooo stinking hot!  








Today we accomplished a lot we got 850 miles under our belt.  We now have the following states under our belt for the trip.

1. Ohio

2. Indiana

3. Illinois

4. Iowa

5. Nebraska*

So Nebraska was not one of the states we were supposed to go into, but when we were cruising this afternoon there was just a ton of signs and it led me to believe that we may have been in Nebraska.  There are rules to follow to be able to acknowledge you have been to a state.  If you do not stay the night in said state in order to claim it you must have gone potty in the state and or had a drink in the state. ( pick your poison on the drink).  All that being said we were really busting ass to get to our final destination this evening and  here I am thinking we may have an opportunity to get another state added to our list for the trip. So I took one for the team during our couple mile possible stint in Nebraska I knew we did not have time to have a drink nor stop anywhere to go potty so I peed a little :) to get the potty points 😐!!!  for a point for us to say we were in Nebraska. LOL  I am kidding I did not pee my pants but I did take a drink of my water. So as far as I am concerned we visited Nebraska and it can go in the books with an asterisk.

We definitely did a potty and or drink in all of the other states legitimately. We made 7 stops for gas, drinks, and potty breaks throughout the day. 

The original plan was to make it to Sioux Falls, SD, but there was something going on there this evening because there was only two  rooms available this evening and they were $400.00.  We said hell to the no on that.  Sioux City, IA wanted us more.

 Day 3 down Stop 1 Back down to Wall Drug and the Harley Shop. While eating Breakfast we all put our meteorologist hats on and was trying to figure out what the game plan was for rain gear today. We decided after we left the Harley shop we would go under the shelter next door and put all of our rain gear on.  We came out to the bikes and took all of our meteorological decisions and through them out the window and decided we were just gonna ride.  For anyone who has never had to put a rain suit on. Putting them on is an absolute nightmare. They get stuck on everything as you put them on and once you get them on they are so stinking hot 🥵 they are just miserable.  Second Stop Mt. Day 4

 Woke up this morning in Gillette, Wyoming. We decided to find out about Gillette, you know something more than they had hotel availability.  Fun fact #1  Gillette supplies 35% of the Nations coal and they are a significant oil supplier. They refer themselves as the energy capitol of the country  Fun fact #2 The town of Gillette was named after Edward Gillette. When the railroad was laying new tracks down they were supposed to follow Donkey creek.  Edward found a different route that save the railroad company a ton of money. By using the new route he discovered they shortened the distance by 5 miles and had to build 30 less bridges. His reward was to have the city named after him. On the road again! First Stop Wally World!  Needed ear plugs the wind was whipping insane again today. Wind gust were at 41 mph according to the warning sign on the interstate.  Day 2 Went to bed last night with tornado warnings! 😕 We were to tired to be concerned about it.  We figured if they were really serious about the warning they would like flash lights and knock on doors if it was going down for real.  So we prepped for bed.  We turned the lights out then realized we did not know where in the heck the remote was. We looked around for a hot minute and decided screw this we will just unplugged the TV.  That's what everyone does, right?!?! When we woke up this morning the trees were all bending over and the wind was blowing extremely hard.  Turns out according to the news the wind would be blowing most of the day from the North @ around 26 miles per hour.  I knew the wind was of significance, but I never realized how much of a pain in the butt it would be.  I do believe we are now all suffering from whiplash in our necks.  Every time you would pass a Semi your neck would get whipped to the left side.
