Waiting outside for the gift shop to open we took advantage of the picture opportunities. Today was our first day adventuring on the Mother Road Route 66. We stayed in Williams the past two nights which is a big part of 66 but we were tired and needed to do laundry so we officially started today. Our first stop will be in Cool Springs Station, AZ. In the 1850's this was discovered by the Native Americans as a life saving water source from the springs. In the 1920's with the introduction of Route 66 and Automobiles traveling the area there was a need for a gas and water station. All of the information about this being a watering and gas station confuses me because there was no water or gas to be had here.
